Find Your Perfect Saddle

01 February 2023

How to select the best PRO saddle for your riding style

Nothing affects comfort on the bike like the connection between you and your bike's saddle. This is your most significant contact point with the bike, so ensuring a saddle that fits your body shape and riding style is paramount to feeling good on the bike.

Every rider is a little bit different, so PRO offers an extensive lineup of saddles that are made to fit a broad range of rides and their needs. Below are a few considerations to help dial in the right fit and help find your perfect match.

But fear not; if you buy a saddle that ends up being not quite right, PRO offers a 30-day fit grantee so you can exchange it and find the one that’s right for you.

Determine Your Ideal Saddle Width

Saddle width is a key consideration when deciding what saddle will work best for you. Your ideal seat width can easily be determined by measuring the distance between your sit bones, which are the portions of the pelvis that should contact the seat for maximum support.

Locate your sitz bones by sitting on your hands and feeling the bony protrusions where the hamstrings meet the glutes. At home, a trusting friend with a tailor’s tape can help measure the width. Or local bike shops often have measuring tools specifically for determining optimal saddle width. PRO saddles range from 132 to 152 mm widths to better fit a wider range of riders.

Decide on the Saddle Shape and Profile

Each rider has a distinct riding position and style, which can help identify the type of saddle profile to look for.

Riders who are more flexible and ride in fixed, aggressive positions may opt for a saddle like the PRO Falcon or Stealth Curve.

Moderately flexible riders who like a balance of support and who frequently shift between different riding positions should consider the PRO Turnix or the classic Stealth profile.

PRO Saddles

The PRO Griffon line will provide the best support for less flexible cyclists who like the most wiggle room to adjust their position out on a ride.

Anatomic Design

If long rides cause numbness or tingling, consider a saddle with an anatomic cutout. This is a partially or fully open groove that runs down the center of the seat, designed to relieve pressure.

Men's and women's specific saddles come with slightly different cutouts to optimally relieve pressure while providing maximum support and comfort for the rest of the seat. Many PRO saddles come with the option of a partial or fully open recess in addition to no cut-out at all.

Materials and Construction

PRO saddles come in a variety of materials and constructions to best fit a rider and intended application. Rails come in carbon for those who desire the ultimate lightweight performance for high-level racing. Metal rails, like INOX Stainless, offer excellent durability and strength and are preferred for off-road applications or rougher roads.

The saddle base also comes in different materials, from full carbon, for ultimate lightweight performance, to different poly blends for strength, vibration damping, and value. PRO Saddles fall into different categories

  • Super Light (carbon rails and bases)
  • Team (carbon bases and Metal/INOX rails)
  • Performance (Polymer Bases and Metal/INOX rails)
  • Off the road (Reinforced Polymer and INOX Stainless Steel).
