The optimal bike fit starts with choosing the parts that make up your contact points, and PRO's new PLT Ergo Carbon bar scales drop and reach measurements along with width so riders of all sizes and shapes can find their perfect fit.
Bike fit goes a long way in boosting performance and increasing comfort so you can keep riding longer and having fun out on the open road. But bike fit isn't just about your body position atop your frame and drivetrain components below. In fact, your handlebar size and position are critical aspects of a bike fit because this area is one of three key touch-points where your body and bike actually make contact.
So how can you personalize your handlebar fit? PRO’s new PLT Ergo Carbon Handlebar tackles this question from three dimensions, featuring the new Evolved Ergonomics concept that scales the dimensions of the bar with each size. That means each handlebar size changes not only in width, but also in drop and reach measurements, to maximize comfort and control for every size ride. Here's how it's done.
PRO starts by providing eight handlebar width options that range from 36cm to 46cm. This increased range offers more options for different rider sizes but also different rider types, so you can find the perfect fit for whatever type of riding you plan on tackling this season.
Next, based on the handlebar width, PRO adapts the reach and drop specifications for a customized ergonomic design for each size. Smaller riders who typically prefer narrower bars will see shallower drop and shorter reach measurements, which helps maintain comfortable access to the controls for smaller hands. On the other hand, larger riders usually opt for wider bars, and so the drop and reach numbers increase to keep riders with larger hands and wingspans from feeling cramped.
Beyond the scaled sizing, the PLT Ergo Carbon bar features subtle design refinements, including ergonomically shaped tops to relieve palm pressure and a slight six-degree downward slope for a more wrist and shoulder-friendly position while riding. Down in the drops, four degrees of flare yields greater control, especially when pushing through tight turns. That smidgen of extra flare also means forearms won't hit the upper curve of the bar while riding flat out in the drops. Lastly, the PLT Ergo Carbon bar has internal routing options for brake lines as well as shift cables or Di2 electronic wires to integrate beautifully with a wide variety of bikes.
Every rider is unique and every body shape a little different, and so should our equipment setups and bike fits be. With the PRO PLT Ergo Carbon handlebar’s scaled size and ergonomic design, you can find the ideal fit and experience a more comfortable and confident ride. Because when you’re one with your ride, you’re primed to ride faster, farther, and enjoy the road that much more.
